Thanks to generous support from the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, HYSB will be hosting a series of free professional development workshops. The training content is geared for local mental health professionals working with children, adolescents, or families. The three training sessions are not cumulative and professionals are welcome to attend any or all of the three workshops. The trainer for each workshop is Dr. Megan Kolano, a licensed clinical psychologist and practicing fellow at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, MA. 3 CEU credits are pending for each training. Past initiatives have included prescription drug take-back events, presentations, and community wide surveys. If you want to get involved with prevention, this group is a great first step!

NAMI Basics, free parent education

NAMI Basics is a free, six-session progam designed for parents and other family caregivers of chidren and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. The program helps parents understand the challenges that are causing difficult behaviors and the critical role families play in the treatment of those illnesses.
