A "Quick Tip" for Parents:
“When children sense deep inside that their parents truly believe in them, it is a gift of great hope and promise.”
-- Charlie Appelstein, M.S.W.
When we take the time to train our children how to help around the house and to contribute to family life in meaningful ways, and when we take the time to appreciate their efforts, children see themselves as significant. When we speak positively about our children, and when we express faith in their ability to do things for themselves, children see themselves as capable. When we refrain from criticisms like, “I told you so!” or “You’ll never learn!” or “You always do that!” and, instead, treat mistakes as opportunities to learn, children gain confidence and are willing to try new things.
